Steven Moffat: how fans saved the Doctor Who finale
Steven Moffat, the creator of Doctor Who, explained how they leaked their much anticipated season finale in which they were going to reveal “the doctor’s biggest secret”. They sent Blu-ray copies of the finale to 210 Doctor Who fans in America. What they didn’t expect however is that the fans kept the most secret episode of the season a secret as well. The 210 fans that received the finale didn’t say a word about the secrets revealed and many more fans helped by closing down comment sections on Doctor Who fan sites in case anybody did run their mouth, which they didn’t.

My opinion:

As a Doctor Who fan myself I had already heard about the leaked season finale, but I hadn’t heard about how the fans themselves willingly kept their mouths shut and letting the rest of the fans enjoy the season finale on their own terms. I think it quite impressive that the creators of Doctor Who didn’t even have to do anything to persuade the fans but the loyalty of the fans really spoke for itself. And from what I could derive from the article the gratitude is big, quite understandably.
