Plague pit found in central London

Construction site workers building a high speed cross rail have uncovered a plague pit in central London. The remains were found underneath Charterhouse square, which used to be outside the city wall in medieval times. Although this is not the first discovery of mass graves it is a very important one. This discovery can give us a lot more knowledge on the bacteria that caused the Black Death and about the people who lived in London in those times. There was some worry that exposing the bacteria would cause people to actually get sick again, but luckily this was not the case of course.

My opinion:

I’m very intrigued by archeological findings, I love documentaries about this stuff and the tragedy that was the Black Death is a very interesting topic to me. But it would be amazing to have new information about the people who died because of the plague and more information about the plague as well through DNA testing. I also find it a bit bizarre that the mass grave was right in the center of modern London! They knew there was a mass grave somewhere, but not the exact location. I think I even walked over the site once before; which is pretty unreal.
