Woman who racially abused
fellow passengers sentenced to jail
Jacqueline Woodhouse, has
been sent to jail for 21 weeks. In January she got on the London Central line
train, drunk from drinking champagne and delivered a racist rant to her fellow
passengers. This wasn’t the first time she has acted like this in public, four
years ago there was a similar occurrence. The man who filmed her, and put the
video on YouTube, doesn’t think her sentence is long enough (part of her rant
was focused on him), and hopes she can learn from this. She has since lost her
job, has been banned from the London Underground and says she’s ashamed of what
she’s done.
My opinion:
Honestly, I don’t think this
woman is really that ashamed of what she’s done. Being drunk is no excuse for
the behavior she displayed and especially since it has occurred before. I do
honestly hope she can learn from this experience that no good comes from acting
the way she did, and even if she really feels like this she is better off
keeping it inside. What she said really goes too far and I think it’s good that
an example can be made from her. One can only hope this doesn’t happen again.

I do agree with Suzanne that this sentence will not help her because it has occurred before, but I do believe the public humiliation will set her straight. As everybody knows what she did, and most believe that what she has done is despicable. I hope she betters her life and learns from her mistakes.
