New national curriculum to introduce fractions to five-year-olds

A final version of the new national curriculum has been published. This new national curriculum will focus more on technology than the former one. They will be taught more on Internet safety and from the age of five they will even learn how to write programs. David Cameron is an admirer of the new curriculum as a parent. Improvements include them being taught about climate change and the human involvement in this, more mathematics and evolution theory will be introduced in primary schools. This national curriculum is only applicable for schools in England but free schools will be able to ignore this.

My opinion:

I think this is a great change. I have felt that schools lack these kinds of improvements for some time now. Of course there are some schools that only work with laptops nowadays, but instead of introducing more computer related subjects they just work on them for the already existing courses. I think it’s very important for children to learn about Internet safety from a young age and how to deal with all these developments. Also the introduction on several science courses and for example the climate change is a huge step forward.
